Deliberate Dumbing Down of America...interesting reading if you have the time...or can still read...:D

i agree with about 30% of this article. the 70% i disagree with is mostly about framing. Freespeech being infringed is when the government censors you via laws. not when people independent of the goverment tell you what you're saying is stupid. thats just having an unpopular opinion. I also disagree with the writers assertion that people are being over-diagnosed with mental disorders. I believe to some small extent that might be true but I also think far more people have weird mental issues they never confront. is a drug cocktail the answer? not always. Mental disorders shouldn't be viewed as a negative trait but rather a simple malady that anyone can suffer from. like a cold or rickets lol.

I think the writer of this article means well but needs to examine the broader implications of what they are viewing as the dumbing down of america. Its def happening but not in the way he's saying. if anything people are getting dumber bc of the sheer wealth of information (factual and non-factual). it allows people to craft their own reality that conforms to their bias'.

Is this the real deal or are they just trying to sell a book?
