The answer is a lie because 1/3 is 0.333333333333333333 and it keeps going so really 1/3+1/3+1/3 really adds up to 0.999999999999 but "technically" somewhere there is a "4" added to one of the 1/3s so it's 1

yeah on Planet of the Apes maybe

No that's math. It's the one math I can do.

the Q was for a 1/3 in decimal form , 1 is not even a decimal , its a whole number
DeltaEcho · 22-25, M
The answer is .3333333333333(continuing) but if your were to add 1/3+1/3+1/3 you wouldn't get .999999999999(continuing) you would get 1. I was just explaining it further.

@FurryFace: 1/3=0.333333333333333333333333333333333... why is that why do some decimals don't terminate if I have 1/3 of a pie then if I 1 divide it into 3 parts of a pie will it repeat?

If I split 1 piece of pie into 3 then will the 3 parts become more three parts?
FurryFace · 61-69, M
i know what you're saying , like PI not being a constant
Alabamian · 26-30, F
@FurryFace: if I split 1 piece of pizza into 3 parts and I keep on splitting it? Would it repeat and explain the repeating decimals?
FurryFace · 61-69, M
ha ha now you're making me hungry ! , Meow !

@FurryFace: what if I split 1 part into 3 parts and keep splitting the parts would it explain the repeating decimals my calculator is showing?
