How can you manage extremely poor mental health over finals?

I need to finish an overdue final essay and reflections set, teach myself the entirety of Calculus 1 in a week so I can possibly pass with a D, pick a topic and write a Philosophy essay, and manage being completely alone and ignored 98% of the time and weak and tired and doing excessive self harm activities

For me the answer was music. I know that sounds trivial but it's what got me through finals with a chronic physical illness as well as major depressive disorder.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound Really? But I already listen to music constantly. Doesn’t really help.

@ShaythePanTransMan I know everybody's different. I wasn't anywhere near properly medicated yet and I've always turned to music as therapy (still do). I have a few specific artists that instantly lift my spirits and when things get dark for me they're my (corny I know) lifeboat.

@slobound I guess. It really usually distracts me and makes me daydream. Oh, that’s nice. I’m glad you have that.

@ShaythePanTransMan We're all different, just need to find what works for you.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound I guess so. I don’t know what works for me. Everything that would usually help seems impossible to do
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan Time to experiment - Meditation, exercise, therapy, etc. For the sake of your health and grades you've gotta do some searching.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound I’m already doing all of that. It just doesn’t help. I’m alone and yet I don’t try to make better friends with my acquaintences because I’m too scared and I deserve to be alone anyway
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan Have you looked into support groups?
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound yes and I go to one already but they don’t help me really
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan If they don't do it for you I would go to the director of your group and ask for recommendations for another in the area and any other resources they might know of.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound Well, I like them, it’s just...it’s a trans support group and I just don’t have trans-related much anymore. So I mostly listen. I guess I could ask the counseling center tomorrow.
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan There you go, don't settle for things just as they are if you need help - keep looking!
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound I guess I will.
The issue is I don’t even know what I need help with I just can’t do anything I need to do
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransManThere's your starting point - you're unable to gather yourself to function for finals so go to the counseling center and go to your support group let them know what's happening (or isn't) and find out what they can do and suggest for help.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound Ah. I just don’t know what they could even help me with, plus I’m terrified they’re gonna force me to the hospital again (they did that earlier in the semester) or inpatient or something. I’m just so tired and overwhelmed by the amount of work it’s too much and I’m so alone
I just texted all 6 of my only friends and acquaintances in a group chat to force them to finally respond to me trying to get them to come to my dorm and watch something for weeks
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan Open up to them about your struggles, don't just try forcing them to come watch a movie. Be honest with them and reach out. If they're any kind of friends they'll be willing to talk with you and hopefully be there for you.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound I did, to 3 of them. They said they care about me, but they aren’t that supportive really. They aren’t there for me really other than just saying they’re there for me.
Also, two of them are more acquaintances and I just feel really uncomfortable doing that
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan I'm tryin' for ya here bud :)
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound I’m sorry I’m making it hard for you :(
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan You're not, I just wish I had the answers you need. Life's a bumpy ride to be sure and we're not given road maps. I wish I could be peoples' AAA
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound Oh, thank you. It’s okay, you’re really doing a lot.
That’s kind of you
slobound · 46-50, M
@ShaythePanTransMan I'm always here for an ear :)
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@slobound thank you
