Do you think I was too harsh to these kids? One if the assistants said I was too tough on him.

Okay so at recess one of the students was sitting unsafely on the slide. Sliding backwards. I told hee to slide the right way. Then she didn't listen so he slid backwards and fell and started crying. I was like, "You know better not to slide like that. That's what you get for not listening. Go play you're fine." The other teachers didn't coddle her. One boy was sitting on the swing the wrong way too. He was laying on his back and he fell on the ground. He was fine. I said, "Uh huh. See that's what you get! You know how to slide. That's your fault." And I walked off. I didn't coddle him. I have gave it to him straight. I bad sure he's ok. The kids are fine. They need to take responsibility. One of the assistants thought I was too hard to these kids. She said, "I think you're being too mean. They're just kids " I said, "Too mean? I'm giving them tough love. Kids need that. Some kids get away with too much and some parents coddle the too much. They need to be told straight up that they need to take responsibility for their faults. They won't like it but it is for their own good. Also, stop apologizing for punishing them. Sometimes to have to be hard on them." Thats what the lead teacher told me. These two kids are 9 years old

Natural consequences. You can advise them, they can choose. Whatever the consequences of their choices are is a natural consequence.
