My college is a liar

When you come to my college they tell you about all the support you have but no. It’s actually NOT there. The counseling center doesn’t know you and are basically useless anyway and will only refer you to outside therapists and will generally not do weekly sessions, so they can’t help plus they’re not open always, campus security which is 24/7 is only good for if you need to go to the hospital, and the RAs are always busy plus they’re mandated reporters. Your friends could easily report you as well (which has happened), if they can even stand you talking about it.
Overall, complain about anything too serious, they send you to the hospital to get you off their hands and make you pay enormous amounts of money and time. There is no actual support here. “Gaels take care of Gaels” is an absolute lie.
Also...you can get mental health accommodations like I have, but what happens when the homework isn’t really a homework but more like an informal and ungraded check on it? You can’t really get an extension on that. And what about an entire test? You can’t move that either because accommodations are much less powerful compared to high school. I might contact them just to try at least.

Why not write a Letter to the Editor of your Local/State paper, stating just that?
Use the line, College support is virtually non existent.......
Do not name the College, just briefly write about your experiences.
Sign as per, Name and address withheld, using the Paper's protocols.
At least you can get the information out there.

@Gusman I guess, but what good would that do?

@ShaythePanTransMan It starts a conversation. There must be plenty of other students out there who have the same experiences.
More people may come forward.
Plus some Mental Health/Counseling Services may read your letter and become involved
Doing nothing is getting people nowhere

@Gusman Oh...maybe. But I haven’t had enough experience with the Counseling Center to know exactly.

Well. Good to know, since I've had some issues of late and was considering college counseling, since it's free. They won't give you any leeway with health issues on tests and quizzes and such?
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Tatsumi Oh, do try counseling. They might be better than they are here. However, do NOT tell them about anything serious. If you self-harm or have any even non-serious thoughts about killing yourself or others, don’t mention that. If they give you a triage assessment paper, it’s a good idea not to check off anything that’s colored red, if they color code it, since it tells them you may need “serious help”/hospitalization. Yellow is fine.
I don’t know if they’ll give leeway. You’ll have to have accommodations in the first place for depression to request an extension on the test, or otherwise you risk getting a 0 for missing the test time. I’m deciding to not even try because I only need to get a C on the test anyway and am gonna cheat with my calculator. (Do you know you can put text files on your calculator?)

@ShaythePanTransMan You have been very helpful! Thank you. ^_^

I did not know you could put text files on your calculator. :O

Good luck on your test. ^_^

@Tatsumi You’re welcome. I’m glad I’m useful for something at least.
Yes, I recommend you do it so you can get a better score and don’t have to memorize formulas or every step in how to solve something.
Thank you, it’s Calculus which I’m very bad at.
College is life’s best selling scam.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@RemovedUsername1005333 Yes...NOT to mention, if you actually need to leave school for medical reasons, well, good luck to you because there are no excused absences, and I imagine it’s very hard to get a FA (failure because of absence) appealed.
Tatsumi · 31-35, M
@ShaythePanTransMan That's fucked up. :/
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@Tatsumi It is.
