@energie Mandarin is useful for mainland China, the industrial areas; Cantonese for Hong Kong and Macau. Best bet when conducting business over there is to have accompanying you a very well educated and savvy Chinese person who is expert in navigating the cultural hoops....and, most important, someone you can trust. So many of the translators play both sides of the fence and the outcome can be pretty distressing.

@samanthasmokes They its a tonal language. It makes it really difficult I think!!

@Behnamhb1999m I agree! I'm no genius with language and I especially look ridiculous reflecting the lilting tones of Mandarin. When I tried to deliver a compliment about the beauty of someone's house I learned I had just said that their home looked like a duck pond. To save face, I said it was a really nice looking duck pond! ☺️

Well, we would never know, and our thought is just a personal opinion. We think this way, but the world will think that way.
For me, English is still the most important language to learn since it has become the bridge that connects to the world.

@chrisCA That is why our personal opinion will never consider accurate or not accurate. The world is always in charge of everything.

@SW-User The most useful language to learn, depends on where you live and where you want to work.

Mandarin seems to be the future, but I think for North and South American trade purposes Spanish is a good choice.
Behnamhb1999m · 22-25, M
@ImKelsey Spanish is a very useful language for Americans to learn.

Depends where you want to work and what you want to do. English is universal enough for most things.

@HannahSky And what's the reason for that?
Spanish is first that comes to mind. I like eating Mexican food.
But, I'm following a half dozen French photographers so that would be great to be able to communicate with them.

The language spoken by more people is Mandarin. And Spanish is quickly become the language of many in the Americas.

If you're in the states, Spanish. Chinese, Arabic, Russian.
There's also something to be said for going after a niche language that has high demand but low supply of 2nd speakers, although you may have difficulty with finding learning material.
