Handwriting - is it still a required skill?

How important it is to teach the kids nowadays handwriting? Because most of their lives they will probably type.
Or do you think that it is important to connect their brains with their motoric capabilities, to create a better human a whole?

It's not an essential skill anymore, unfortunately. However it significantly improves coordination between both our LHS & RHS brain hemispheres, so it's crucial for our own cognitive behavior.

@Vivaci The motoric skills are being neglected here, people are many times being too utilitarian
@sumojumo yeah, it's terrible man...I still remember the day when my primary school kid said that he won't need to practice cursive writing as it's not required in school anymore!! 😵

@Vivaci Oh yes, I deal with such fights every day - nobody wants to do the basic stuff anymore. I also view a lack of respect for basic skills - maybe it is because I am getting old :)-
@sumojumo I think parents need to stress on the fact that cursive writing should be taught to kids regardless of whether they're typing or not.
I personally don't like a lot if changes to our education system...having no uniforms for one.

@Vivaci I am starting to like the ideas of uniforms. The kids would become much more focused if they would not bother with which T-shirt someone is wearing. And especially for the kids from poorer families that would be fantastic. The clothes can be such a stigma for kids.
@sumojumo exactly. It instills a sense of discipline in kids. And they focus on studies rather than fashion n looks.

@Vivaci now... we just need to convince the kids of this ;)
@sumojumo I have made sure my kid joined as Junior cadet so that ways he learns it indirectly. 😊
