Do you think corporal punishment should be reinstated in schools?

There are several European countries that have stopped corporal punishment in school AND at home. Not every kid needs a spanking, and some parents don't know their own strength when they use a paddle or belt on kids.

a good parent knows how hard and how much.

Then how about the fathers and mothers who get carried away because their budding artist draws a blue turkey on the cream colored living room wall? It doesn't make a "good parent" because you spank him or her.

@MaryJanine i got plenty of paper for my kids to draw on and told them never to draw on the wall. As they knew what would happen if they did they never did. Kids do think for them self's and with the right encouragement they do well

"Encouragement" and "spanking" have two different meanings in the dictionary. If kids "do think for themselves" then why do we have so many cases of near abuse or near murder and the parent says "Oh, I just spanked him (or her)." You can tell your kids what the rules are before you hand over the paper and crayons.If they follow through, fine. If they don't, and your method of punishment is a spanking,more power to you - but don't get carried away. Like I said before, what was called "good spankings"in my growing up years (1960's) are now considered child abuse or near murder. It's better to limit to a couple of spanks if anything at ALL.

I am against it. I had no children of my own.but I was a busy and most requested babysitter from the time I was eleven, and a playleader in grammar school for a rambunctious bunch of six and seven years old girls. I never raised my hand to any of them - and what their parents did was their affair, not mine.

Sure, I got spanked - plenty of them, and hard - when I was young. But I am against it, especially in a school environment.
