I can't figure something out...

So I was just browsing eBay and I noticed something that I can't wrap my brain around. There are a bunch of Amazon gift cards, but it appears that 80% of them are being sold for more than their value (ie a $50 card getting bids of around $55). Can anyone explain this (excluding saying "people are dumb" or something synonymous)? :P

2 most popular reasons are fraud and money-laundering. Using a stolen credit card online is a good deal safer than walking into a store full of security cameras. If these folks could take the stolen card into a bank and purchase cash, they would. Amazon gift card is pretty close to cash status.
