I can't figure something out...

So I was just browsing eBay and I noticed something that I can't wrap my brain around. There are a bunch of Amazon gift cards, but it appears that 80% of them are being sold for more than their value (ie a $50 card getting bids of around $55). Can anyone explain this (excluding saying "people are dumb" or something synonymous)? :P

I think they're called "scalpers". They usually buy something then sell it overpriced to people who can't buy it because the thing is either gone or they can't buy it by another method, I may be wrong though.

2 most popular reasons are fraud and money-laundering. Using a stolen credit card online is a good deal safer than walking into a store full of security cameras. If these folks could take the stolen card into a bank and purchase cash, they would. Amazon gift card is pretty close to cash status.

I think its coz the person is selling it on eBay is giving the buyer something they could not acquire by the normal methods (you need a credit card to buy off yahoo) so they by providing the item indirectly make their own little profit off it
@xCoinx Maybe... But I know you can use PayPal for both. As far as I know, they share most payment methods. Buy I could be wrong. :)
@ilovethecure But why not just go directly to Amazon and spend that much? O.o
