Was this teacher a pervert?

The story gives us very little information, only that the girl was actively and intentionally violating rules by talking and class and passing notes. There is no information of the boy doing or having the intention of violating rules. I do not see anything that could justify punishment for the boy; that the girl talks to him does not make him guilty of violating the order in the class.

From what I've been told by my mum, granny and grannys friend who is an ex teacher and they all said that in their experience boys got punished more frequently than the girls even though they cause equal trouble. The teacher even said that the school encouraged teachers to punish boys more as their parents complained less than a girls parent. And from my own experience if a boy and girl were talking in class the girl would get lines if any punishment and the boy would get lines and a detention or something along those lines. Maybe he was just a bit of a perv teacher or maybe the poster has her rose tinted glasses on

hello, in our senior school in mid 1960s, girls used to get caned across knickers and the boys across trousers( more protection)when we were allowed to take our blazers off, the boys thst sat behind us would jab us in the back with pencils or ping our bra straps, yes you guessed it we turned round and got caught, out to the front of the class touch toes and a caning, i think only once did a boy get seen jabing us and he got caned again over his trousers

You can't draw any conclusions from the story without more informtion. More generally, I don't like the idea of male teachers caning girls.

@dorothyanne. The boys weren't like that at my school, we didn't have boys-v-girls type rivalry. We still misbehaved in class but, in our case, if we got caught, it was out to the front and bend over for the slipper usually. Only a couple of teacher used the cane in class, most canings were in the headteachers' studies.

We got slippered or caned through our knickers too but the boys got it through their trousers. Loooking back, it was unfair but we didn't think about it at the time. Did you?

Whether he was right or not, he probably considered her to be the problem child.

Suzie1960, you are right. I misread it. It is about time I get used to always putting on my spectacles when reading and writting.
But we still have very little information so it is difficult to judge in the case and if the girl initiated the talking by passing notes it could still be fair only to punish her.

@suzie1960: You are quite right to pull me up. I meant there was a risk of a male teacher having improper motives or feelings if he caned a girl pupil. But I was being illogical, or looking at things only from the point of view of a heterosexual male. There's always a risk, with any teacher and any pupil. So I withdraw my generalisation.

@MartinTheFirst. I don't have any more information about the incident. The poster did say it wasn't unusual for boys to be let off.

@karinaal. They were equally guilty - "...the [b]boy who was talking to her[/b] did not get punished at all."

@Martinll. Why don't you like the idea of male teachers caning girls? How about female teachers caning boys?

It often happens, a teacher only sees one side of a argument, or he does only want to have to do it one time.

Karinaal is right, far too little information. Perhaps you have that too suzie?

I wouldn't say... a normal teacher... if his intentions were sexual.
