it's a shame we can't nominate for best question sometimes :)
Viper · M
@Newandimproved absolutely, I've said this too!

That said the hot question section covers it, but it doesn't..
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Newandimproved

Yes, when EP at least had " The Question of the day?"

Even then....

I know a college professor who received a paper which was full of bizarre statements. It turns out the student had done a google search and based the paper on one particular web page, which was for a sixth-grader's science fair project!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Spent half an hour last night trying to ascertain the answer to what i thought was a relatively simple question requiring names; dates; etc. and neither Google nor Yahoo gave me the information i was after even after re-wording the question half a dozen times !
AbbySvenz · F
But you put in the effort.🥇
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@AbbySvenz I eventually went on a 'Fan forum' and got the answer within 5 minutes !!!
AbbySvenz · F
.. which probably came up in your search?
Dan193 · 31-35, M
What's the point of asking you that then, if we have all the info we need while going through our search engine?
AbbySvenz · F
There's a difference between asking "What is..." or "How do I..." and soliciting others experiences with the subject.

More than half of the questions I see are of the former, rather than the latter, which a few minutes on Google can solve.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@AbbySvenz well there aren't that many questions posted anyway, but if that happened we'd have that number cut in half. So let them just do their thing and we'll have more questions to pick from.
ninjavu · 56-60, M
@AbbySvenz Exactly! Why do people not understand the difference between discussion and looking up simple facts? Wait, what's Google? How do I look that up?
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
This is similar world's not yahoo answers.

Spend 5 to 10 min. Reading the about and guidelines section.
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F
Good luck on that!
AbbySvenz · F
@ozgirl512 ikr?
ozgirl512 · 31-35, F
@AbbySvenz yup... Sometimes I think the average IQ can be measured in room temperature scales lol
Viper · M
And use your time with the search engine to look up your question... not porn...
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Viper Maybe, some people have forgotten that search engines do have those other uses!
Wishingwellguy · 46-50, M
Yes , you will get vastly different results, depending on where you live geographically
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
What if I want to know someone's opinion on a subject
AbbySvenz · F
Then phrase your question properly @vetguy1991
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
@AbbySvenz like, what do you think is the best cookie?
SW-User
Exactly !! Most if the time they do not even need a search engine. They just want to post..lol
Mordi · 31-35, M
But it was "wam bam, thank you ma'am" after 25 seconds.
But I'd rather hear YOUR answer!! :D
AbbySvenz · F
I’ll likely copy-paste from Wikipedia, or another source that I found with the Googles, @NuclearSub 😁
Your ancient wisdom (from 2017!) still rings true!
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
This mindset is why this site is dying now 😌🤷🏼‍♀️
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Wait... You mean SW isn't Google?
swl2jo · 56-60, M
what's the best search engine?
calicuz · 56-60, M
Now where's the fun in that?
This pinned, 6 yr old post is ever relevant!
I have learned the hard way
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Omg yes! Especially on quora!!!
Bklynbadboy12 · 36-40, M
I have a question for you
I say THANK YOU...
496sbc · 36-40, M

Wishingwellguy · 46-50, M

@SteelHands You're right, I'm not understanding you. You're "the p3"?

Totally agree, but people are so lazy. It's the way they have been trained by technology and technology companies over the last 20-30 years. In a few generations we'll all just be blobs of protoplasm with wireless connections to the mainframe.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Spend five or ten seconds with your search brain before you answer this question.

Fun fact: one of the rules on Yahoo! Answers was that we weren't allowed to answer questions with "Google it," no matter how bloody obvious it should have been.
SW-User
suck that ice
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Okay, but how do I find a search engine?
AbbySvenz · F
🤦‍♀️@LordShadowfire
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I remember on Yahoo! Answers, the stupidity got so bad, they had to implement a ban on answering with "Google it!"
