How do people learn to be good citizens?

Do you think it would help if mindfulness, meditation, philosophy, ethics, life skills - were taught in schools?

I think the first thing they should learn, is that the earth doesn't revolve around them, and that other people have feelings, and rights, too. Parents need to stop spoiling their kids, and teach them to look beyond their own selfish desires.

hi AbbeyRhode
That apparently has been an unforeseen product of China's one cild policy.
Best wishes

@sogdianrock I don't know about China, but I see it here in America. Lazy parents, who don't want to be bothered teaching their kids anything, just buy them whatever expensive toys they want. They don't teach them to interact with others, or share, or wait their turn, or to respect themselves and others.

@AbbeyRhode It's a daily chore to remind children that they need to respect others and use little examples that come their way as a teaching tool....

hi AbbeyRhode
I recognise your point here also.

@cherokeepatti Exactly, it takes time, and too many people don't want to be bothered. They allow TV and video games to raise their kids, and then they wonder why they are dysfunctional.

@sogdianrock Thank you. :)
