I started watching "Making Manson" on Peacock…

It’s about his beginnings, in his own words from recorded phone calls in prison. Some former cellmates, former cult members recounted experiences with him. It was mind-blowing how old they all were.

Most of them finally understood that he had not been a positive influence in their lives. But some of them, almost 60 years later, are still making excuses for him (reminds me of another situation). It’s funny, but I was a kid living in SF during the Summer of Love and remember when all of that was going on.

Manson and his cult were ultimately pretty sick. But a lot of people found him as kids who were vulnerable and just looking to be a part of something profound back then. 🥺

Some people are still unaware of the Beach Boys connection. That's an eyebrow raiser for a lot of people.
@uncalled4 Yes. And the connection with Doris Day’s son, Terry Melcher, who Manson had been looking for and who’d lived at the Cielo Dr address. Possibly he knew Manson was upset and ´got out of Dodge’.
Sharon Tate (along with her friends) had the extreme misfortune to be in the house when Manson & Co. returned; she was the new tenant after Melcher left.

@bijouxbroussard The whole situation is chilling, then you get into his White Album fixation, Revolution/Revelation 9. I mean that album is creepy already; it didn't need Manson's help.
@uncalled4 It was all so bizarre. And people defending him to this day say, "Manson didn’t actually kill anyone." I always ask, "Do you consider Hitler or Pol Pot innocent because they didn’t personally pull the trigger or load people into the wagons ?" I have a feeling more people nowadays do feel that way. 🥺

@bijouxbroussard It's the people who yell "FIRE" and incite people with obvious mental limitations who might be the most dangerous of all. They narcissistically have other people doing their bidding.
