I used to think he was a miserable man but after watching the crown I love him the best.
@Keepitsimple He's certainly one of the most misunderstood out of the Royal Family.

@HootyTheNightOwl Yes! I didn’t realize how much he was involved with and was passionate about either. I’m glad he had the funeral he wanted in the end.
@Keepitsimple He was an amazing man... going through as much as he did and still taking on the duty of serving the people. Say what you like about the Royal Family, but I think that you'll be hard pressed to find people who can take on a work load such as theirs and make it work for you. I mean, not only do we have them doing the stuff that the public sees - but, there's so much more that happens in private that we don't see.

The freedoms that the press had right up to the death of Princess Diana (and what happened when Kate Middleton came onto the scene) was scary, too. It was only a matter of time before it killed at least someone - though I'm surprised that we only lost just one member of the Royal Family. I'm happy that they managed to find a working balance with that before it killed anyone else because one death is a death too many.

Did you know that it was Prince Philip who oversaw the restoration of Windsor Castle after the fire???

@HootyTheNightOwl They have a lot of help though getting things accomplished. 😉 I wasn’t aware that prince Philip oversaw the the castle restoration but this makes me want to watch more documentaries.
@Keepitsimple There's still a lot more that goes on than what we see, though. Just because Liz doesn't sit there polishing the silver on a Saturday afternoon, it doesn't mean that they have no idea about what they are eating until it's presented to them or what fruits and vegetables are currently in season. Philip was known to go down to the kitchens and "help out" as far as meal preparations went. Yeah, he'd correct trained chefs and the kitchen staff. I saw a documentary yesterday where they thought that they had an intruder in the palace kitchens... it turned out to be Prince Philip.

@HootyTheNightOwl He loved to bbq and cook! Still, I think they cost England a lot of money and aren’t necessary at this point.

@Keepitsimple They bring a lot of revenue into the country and cost us £2 each a year.
