"assigned at birth"

is a pet peeve of mine when i hear that. You were not assigned anything at birth. You just are what you are. Sorry to bring reality crashing back down on you.

I would point out that knowledge is situational and cultural, not necessarily "truth."

For example, it was once feared that sailing a ship too far might result in falling off the flat earth.

What we know would be better described as "what we think we know."

Like if ships sailed too far out and never came back; did it really matter that what they thought they knew was wrong? It also could be that those who appeared to have ignored warnings about falling off the edge actually found something better than what they left behind, and chose not to go back, ever. What? Go back and tell the fearmongers that what you found beyond their horizon was better?
