Do you believe that there should be a distinction between trans men and women, and biological men and women?

In any capacity. Be it in sports, in society, on dating sites, etc etc. One of those? All of those? None? A different one?

I don't care in any other context but my medical practice.

I am against the wide spread glorification of sports as sole career in general.

When it comes to dating people should be honest with those they intend to date long term but that applies on all aspects of the self not just gender.

(The preferred term among trans people and allies is "cis men and women" rather than "biological men and women" btw.)

I think there are differences, but whether society or any particular group or organization should make anything of those differences is another question. Very often the call for distinctions comes from cis people who are prejudiced against trans people.

In sports, I think the time has long passed for an end to separate men's and women's teams or categories. You can categorize people by weight or height or whatever is relevant to the sport, similar to lightweight or heavyweight boxing, but adapted to whatever the actual qualifications are.

@SW-User Your suggestion is like making all food gluten free just because 2% of people have celiac disease.
SW-User
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic Well you may have noticed that gluten-free food is increasingly available and popular.

@SW-User Yes, mostly due to marketing schemes promoted to misinformed people who think there's something unhealthy about it, prime example how ignorance leads who a diet fad, while very few actually have celiac disease.

There should be, it matters a lot in sports due to obvious differences between males and females, as for dating if you want to get closer to someone why would you keep something like this a secret (provided it's not evident).

I don’t really give a shit what people do but everyone wants to divide and separate us father apart so go for it. Fuck society.

It’s like the term “ soy hot dog”. The word soy means it isn’t a hot dog but something else .

There's a very distinct difference to have mental disorders

Putting the word trans in front of man or woman IS the distinction .

Doesn’t make a difference to me

I wonder who this was, they are gone now
There are only two genders.
At the risk of being labeled "transphobic", I would mention that the few people I knew when I was younger were "transitioned", that is, post-surgery. But my understanding is that people now can classify as trans while still having original parts. If that is so, I’m pretty sure a lot of women , myself included, would be hesitant to share a locker room and shower with someone who has a penis. 🙁

Yes, for instance on dating sites

Everyone is entitled to their preferences in dating/romantic relationships, so people should have to disclose their status. If there are more than two genders, then simple male/female check boxes in such venues are obsolete.

As far as sports, I really don't care, because I don't care about sports in general, regardless of gender.

And I won't lie, I'm still a minor bit skeptical about the entire subject, simply because I've never heard of any other species indulging in "transitioning" and sometimes it does strike me as a way to get attention (perhaps for some but not all trans people). For instance, I recently watched the third season of Blown Away on Netflix, one of the competitors identified as non-binary, and for some reason this is all this person could talk about ... not, you, glass blowing. Like, "hi, my name is ___, and I'm non-binary, and that's like really the main thing I want you to know about me, even though we're really here to talk about glass". Like the identity is the number one thing this person wants to get out to everyone as the very first impression because everything is wrapped up in acknowledging this identity for this person. To a degree, sometimes to me it seems like a vanity exercise, similar to Rachel Dolezal "identifying" as a different ethnicity.

If someone is homosexual or bisexual, that does not bother me at all, and that is easier for me to grasp than redefining a basic biological birth state like gender. Sometimes it seems like people have a whimsical entitlement to just try to redefine everything merely for the sake of it, "just because I can," maybe as a means of achieving some sort of notoriety to fill some other void, and that it's probably not out of the realm of possibility that eventually some will start redefining apples as bananas, just to get us all to "expand our thinking" for no other reason than the sake of it, nothing deeper.

I would definitely prioritize the environment, climate change, universal healthcare, and ending opioid hysteria than penalizes legitimate chronic pain patients for whom nothing else works (yes, every alternative you want to offer, they HAVE tried) ... way ahead of gender identity in political decision-making.

If that makes me transphobic, so be it, I can live with that.
