Out of Phase with the Modern Mind

When a classically ordered mind encounters modern popular culture where irony replaces sincerity, slogans replace reasoning, and context changes by the hour even an intelligent person can feel as though everyone else is speaking a language they were never taught.

Am I genuinely failing to understand modern thought or has modern thought abandoned the expectation that it should make sense?

In other words… are people still making sense, or are we just pretending they are?
