I think it's funny how there are 8 billion people on Earth and nobody knows why we're here 😆

We're all arguing and killing each other over it all the time.

People can explain the factors that caused us to be here, but why in the sense of purpose is a silly question.

@JimboSaturn you do realize there are scientists who believe in the concept of a soul

@StygianKohlrabi There are certainly scientist who believe in souls but that has not been proven scientifically. Their belief is personal. Just like the belief there is some "why" in the sense of a divine purpose.

@JimboSaturn they usually say it has to do with the conservation of energy. you cannot permanently destroy something that exists such as conscience. if their training told them otherwise, none of them would believe in it.

@StygianKohlrabi The conservation of energy idea comes more from people trying to use science to explain the soul.

The death of your body and the dissolution of the ego violates no laws of energy conservation. You die because your body and hence your brain cannot function and create the energy it needs to keep its existence. Our brains are organs just like our hearts, once it dies, your ego also dies. You die.

You can think of your ego like a snowflake made of water. When the snowflake melts, it's order is gone and it returns to water, nothing is lost just the order. Similarily or ego is the emergent property of you brain function, once the brain no longer functions the order it created as our ego breaks down. Our bodies return to being a bunch of atoms.

@JimboSaturn It's like saying "why are there mountains" like there is a purpose to mountains. We can explain the casual affects that lead to mountains.

@JimboSaturn ok well that's one belief
