I Am So Annoyed

I’m 80% deaf , but I live a reasonably normal life with the aid of hearing implants and I can read most lips , and I have dome heightened sense of my environment , including in my work as a “ lecturer “
But today I was as At a well know market in the uk , and was have a few issues with a manager on a till , when I asked if I could see a breakdown of my bill as I questioned it regarding an offer , he got stroppy and eventually abliged me , but before I left the store he said “ I think it would help you and Our staff if you wore some kinda of ID , to show you have a disability , wtf .
Never at any point in our conversation was my hearing a problem , and tbh it rarely is

That treatment was totally out of order. I would write to the company's head office and complain, but do so in a reasonable, professional manner.

It would be your word against the local manager's but I suspect they would at least offer some sort of apology if only out of fear you might make a Big Thing out of it.

I would not demand an apology, if it were me, for a demanded apology is about as sincere as a communique from the Kremlin.

I have had cause to complain about rudeness, but have done only once, when my girlfriend of the time was distressed to overhear two pub staff wondering if she was male or female (a medical complaint meant she sometimes had a "five o'clock shadow", badly damaging her self-confidence). There, I complained directly but verbally to the manager, and he did apologise on the spot and promised to speak to the staff. I don't know if he did but they were the losers, because though our meal and drinks had been good enough to attract us back, we never did return.

I could have done when at a busy exhibition my enquiry to a sales-stand staff member was promptly and rudely broken by some bloke about a foot taller than me totally ignoring me and grabbing the salesman's attention from me, literally over my head.

I have only once complained in writing, not over rudeness but over a pot of food that gone off thanks to a tiny hole in the cover I'd not spotted until I wondered about the mould. I was friendly in style, and the company promptly apologised, refunded the cost and gave me a little extra!

I’m so sorry there are jerks like that. We are all handicapped to a point, some more visible than others. You are a paying customer and deserve respect regardless of hearing impairment
