And unsurprisingly the US stock market plummets.

Canada, China, EU, Britain, Japan, Australia and South Africa all plan for potential retaliatory tariffs on US goods.

When the global economy crashes you all know who to thank. Trump’s America.

First of all you obviously haven't realized they are called reciprocal tariffs for a reason he is only putting a tariff on their product because they are already charging us a tariff. Maybe their economies deserve to crash they've been charging the US for us to sell our goods and their markets for years now we're going to charge them to sell their goods in the US. Trump's already said countries that don't charge the US tariffs will not be charged tariffs on their products.

@dale74 Israel has 0 tariffs on the US and the US is tariffing them 17%. The tariffs aren't based on the tariffs we're being charged. It's the country's trade surplus with the US divided by imports, and then divided by 2.

@dale74 Nope, that happened on Tuesday.

Trump announced the tariffs yesterday (Wednesday), and the tariffs went into effect today. And also, Israel never had a 17% tariff rate on all US goods or anything even remotely along those lines.

@dale74 Importers pay tariffs, which int turn means their customers pay tariff. Tarriffs aren't paid by the exporting country.
dale74 · M
@MethDozer I know that reread what I said I said he was putting a tariff on their products that we import because they already have tariffs on our products.
MethDozer · M
@dale74
. because they are already charging us a tariff
dale74 · M
@MethDozer yes these other countries are already charging tariffs on us products so they're charging us a tariff to their citizens for our products to be sold in their country
MethDozer · M
@dale74 they're charging their importers. Again exporters don't get charged anything
