I don’t feel like I’m being unreasonable when I say that the options available when buying a new laundry hamper SUCK

I’ve spent like an hour being disappointed by hampers 🙄

I use those solid 20 gallon storage totes with the lids.

@NativePortlander1970 do you have to pick them up and carry them? I really wanted something on wheels
@itsok I think there are large totes with wheels, let me look.
@itsok I found this at Walmart.

@NativePortlander1970 I like everything about that one, except I really wanted one that had two sections so I can separate my bleach and non bleach loads
@itsok Maybe put a towel in between them, I have never seen compartmentalized hampers or baskets.

@itsok you could make a section thing yourself, or sadly you’ll have to buy two smaller ones
itsok · 31-35, F
@WaryWitchWandering I ended up buying two last night. I hope they’re sturdy
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@itsok if not… I saw this
itsok · 31-35, F
@WaryWitchWandering I saw similar ones, and thought I could just use two for dark laundry and one for light. I ended up getting two that look the same, just one is twice as large I’ll use for dark clothes, and the smaller for lights. And it says it’s super heavy duty but there are no max weights for the clothes, sooo.. we’ll see. I had no idea this was going to be such an ordeal

@itsok Why do they need wheels? Mine lives on top of the washing machine. When it's full I lift the clothes out and put them in the washing machine.

@ninalanyon that sounds nice for someone who lives alone, or can mix a household’s laundry. I don’t live alone, so I can’t keep my clothes on top of the washer. The space I have for them is across the house in a closet

@itsok There are three of us in the house (was four until No. 3 son moved out in the spring). We have two laundry baskets, one for light or delicate things, the other for the rest. One lives on top of the washing machine the other on top of the drier. All this is in the wash room in the cellar. Once the washing is dry it's the responsibility of the owner of each item to take it away to their own space two floors away up the stairs.
