I hate the phrase 'All-American'

Like when someone says, "Oh she was an all-American girl". 🙄 Because 9 times out of 10, they're talking about a blonde haired blue eyed tanned girl with very basic personality and interests. Please tell me how *that* became the definition of "All-American", especially when blonde and blue eyed isn't even native to the Americas. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ironic with him being small and dark haired....let alone the whole of Jewish origin thing!

They say the same thing over here in the UK...

@Elessar Indeed. But, I guess with the Scandinavian countries as well as the US and the UK, it's seen as 'The Standard'....which makes me feel it's a generalisation.

Which makes me feel that it's not some insidious, crazy thing.....but just some 'lack-of-knowledge' thing from the general public (or, as I call some people, '..the great unwashed..' 🤣)

Some people just say what the masses say...and some of us look behind these words and find what's true...
