Of the 147 cases of measles in TX reported already in 2026, most are in federal detention centers

The largest outbreak (108 cases thus far) is in a single contracted federal detention facility in Hudspeth County according to the Texas Department of Health Services. Te facility, which is managed by LaSalle Corrections previously housed immigration detainees although reports are conflicting as to whether or not that is still the case.

Texas officials have not been cooperative in providing detailed information regarding their response to this crisis such as contact tracing, vaccine availability or providing demographic information on infected individuals and the number of hospitalizations.

Imho.... typical for a republican led state but also very typical for Texas. 🤷
@Elisbch Absolutely! This is an abomination brought to us by the entire Demented Donnie misadministration especially through the combined “efforts” of Stephen Miller, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, Mike Johnson, Noem, Bovino, and others.

Thank you for BC! 😊

Measles is not a death sentence.

Imagine mothers - in the 1950s - having children who got chicken pox, measles and mumps and lived to tell the tale! All while trying to protect their children from polio.

Measles is not ideal but it's not a reason to get hysterical about.
@whippersnapper If you really are open to improving your knowledge of the threat you are pooh poohing, this article would be a good starting point.

@RockerDad Millions of children die each year from lack of clean water. Your point is? Sounds like you read with your finger.
@whippersnapper No dispute to that. Not just children, so campaign for clean, potable water and you’ll have my full support!

However, your “point” about measles in my post was a non sequitur.
