I Have Lost People I Love From Cancer

In the last five years, I have lost both my only sister and my Mama. My sister had a "coronary event" (not specified, and her hubby had her cremated, so no further investigation.

Mama passed from liver cancer this month last year. It has been a terrible loss, for me. It has affected me more than I ever thought it would, but she had been in pain (not from the cancer)for years and years. She had lupus, RA, high blood pressure, osteoporosis,GERD, RLS,and a few more minor conditions. That is all over for her, now, and that is the ONLY good thing that happened. I won't go into family squabbles at this time, but suffice it to say it was not pretty.

I was born when she was only 17, and so we were very close. I miss her so very much. There just like a great big crater in my heart. I am still struggling with this loss on top of my moderate to severe depression and anxiety. Many, many things...some benign, some intensely personal and important (at least to me)

This past five years has been a period of real loss in so many way.

Thank you for reading. :)

My condolences. I know how you feel, I lost my mother in 2005, then six years later my husband died suddenly, and my father died last March. So similar situation, and what I just wanted to say was that although we know how much we loved them, remember too how much they also loved us because the love stays with us all through our own life even though we feel the pain in not having them physically around any more. My thoughts are with you.

I lost my wife in 1999 and I have been alone ever since. Cancer is such a terrible disease that affects those with it but also those close to them. I feel your pain. She will never be replaced in my heart but I have learned some how to move on in life. Like you it has taken a lot of time but if you have a good support group you can get through this. I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

@BobbyPres, My sincere condolences for your loss, and for finding a way to make it through.

My support system is all but non existent. Still, "lonesurvivor" will survive. This, too, shall pass.

My condolences for your losses. I lost my soulmate four years ago to a combination of conditions, after she had survived cancer.
