Many of us know the same types of loss. It's strange how the kindest and sweetest people tend to go first. Maybe the next world needs them. Who knows. Cancer took both my mother and father long before the allotted time, but only the creator knows what's really going on.

@puck61 I've heard that. I know that's right.

Which is why I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which is why I don't smoke or do drugs of any kind.

However, I fear that no matter how much I try to maintain my lifestyle I live by, that cancer, which comes from my mother's side and her father's side, might very well come for me, and/or even cardiovascular diseases and complications, such as heart attacks and strokes, which that comes from my father's side and his father and mother both. I fear the possibility of either.
@SamHarris I recently quit smoking. The VA hospital gave me patches and nicotine pills, and so far they are working. My hands want to hold a cigarette, but the craving is substituted well, and I have gotten rid of all the memories and fetishes of tobacco.

@puck61 Ooh. Well, my old man has had two heart attacks and a stroke. He kept on smoking even those times. And yet, there is no telling if he is still smoking even after he's had his stroke over a year ago.
@SamHarris Well, I guess there is something to be said for peddling down hill, but I love life. I wish I could live to be 500 at least! I would make a great 'Lazarus Long'. Have you ever read, "Time Enough For Love"?
SamHarris · 31-35, M
@puck61 Nope. I haven't.
@SamHarris You should! It's a classic science fiction novel by Robert A Heinlein. Lazarus is a genius and a rogue!

@puck61 Sorry for your losses.I lost my brother last year too.not easy at all.
@Butterflykisses24 My sister passed on Christmas eve and it was self inflicted. I spent Christmas alone in introspection but I baked my first turkey solo, and it came out perfect! I was amazed by my culinary skills! One of the best turkeys I've ever had was my first attempt! I used two cubes of butter coating it, and I baked it under foil at 325 for four hours. I rubbed it with Adobo and some Cajun seasoning called "Slap Yo Mamma:. I was really proud of my first turkey! Zechariah the schizophrenic messenger of God was passing by pushing his bicycle with a black garbage bag wrapped around his neck so I went downstairs and invited him to dinner. He was too busy talking schizophrenia and drinking to eat but I sent some with him in Tupperware.
