I Am HIV Positive

I was born with it. I found out about it when I was 8. I asked why I had to take medicine that made me feel sick. My mother told me and said never to tell anybody about it.

I'm 25 and still healthy. I never worried about my HIV.

I can only imagine what it has been like for you. Have you had any health complications and have you told friends or is it just between you and your mom?

Some. The most notable being me getting a kidney stone a few years ago. I've told a group of people before just so I could get it off my chest. Having kept it secret all my life, I thought to tell a group at a club at my community college. Some of my family knows. I don't know who all knows though.

How has the treatment been though? I haven't told my mom but I've told my best friend. But I think my mom suspects Coz she saw my meds

Nothing too crazy. The meds I used to take would make me sick to my stomach unless I ate before taking them. But it could be much different for you. I go in once every 3 months to get my t-cells checked. I have other medical issues but I can't say it's the meds. Could be genetic illnesses or something random.

Hope things go well with you being able to tell your mom.

My treatment makes me sick too if I take it after eating. And I have recurrent fevers but nothing major. Just started meds and I'm going back on Monday so they can decide if I change course or stay on the current meds. But boy does it give me nasty moods and I'm forgetful lately especially when it comes to work but luckily I haven't got into trouble.

You should get a pill box with the days of the week on it. I've had to use one since I'm forgetful too.

I don't forget the meds they just make me forgetful, one of the side effects. Really hope it goes away
