If you are disabled, what activities do you engage in?

If you are on Disability, whether it's physical/ mental/ health related, what activities do you find yourself engaging in during the week? I'm on a fixed income and find it hard at times.

I've yet to find out if my disability is temporary or permanent.
But I've gone from being physically active, walking miles at a time; swimming twice a week; pottering around the garden etc. To not being able to stand; walk; sit or lay for too long because I have pain shooting down my back and legs after a while.
So I've had to adapt and allow change.

The hospital were very helpful.
They put me in touch with other people in similar circumstances.
So there's an environment where you can ask questions that play on your mind; get tips and ideas for mobility around the house and encouragement to get outdoors however briefly just so you can get a different view and some fresh air rather than the one you feel you're stuck with if you're indoors all the time.
I'm playing Chess online with others in similar positions to me.
I've re-started writing. Observations and letters and postcards to people I'm not getting to see...
I've bought a chair for the shower which is helpful. Devices that enable me to attain some sort of adapted normality.
So I guess it's as good as it can be given the limitations.

I've had to give up driving for the time being at least which annoys me.
However there are a few advantages.
I get discounted fares from busses to trains even local cab companies are charging me a flat rate if I just need to go into town or to the city.

I find I'm speaking to people personally on the phone or in person online rather than sending seemingly endless e-mails with delays in responding.

So it's kinda busy. Not in the direction I'd like. But I suppose that's life !
Adapt to your abilities not your disability

I don't let it stop me at all. I lead a fairly normal life, i just do things a bit differently. I'm out and about and just living life
I'd like to get out with a camera and work more on my photography.

The beauty of this is that we all have at least one camera on us 24/7 now... so getting into taking pictures has never been easier than it is today.
