I stopped taking my novolog meal insulin and my sugars are steady without it...
Nothing at all bad happened.
Instead,my blood sugar levels stabilized and my CGM has told me I'm 100% in range.
I was taking insulin for my in range blood sugars for it to go down too low -so I have to eat then have to take insulin again, because the numbers went up too much because of the snacking!!
Can anybody tell me how that would make any sense to keep doing that?
Yet ,all the doctors warned me not to stop taking the insulin unless my numbers were 90 or under despite the evidence that my sugars were stabilizing?
Did they want me to keep having hypoglycemia and erratic blood sugars?
Instead, I just don't eat between meals and it works for me and I don't have to poke myself with a needle 4 times a day.
I'm taking an oral medication and I still take my long acting insulin at night ,for now.
1 poke beats 4!
I am a diabetic t2- and I know diabetic t1 cannot stop their insulin and even some diabetic 2 will have to continue on insulin.
It just amazes me how these doctors do not care what's going on with you!
And all the propaganda that scares you into thinking you have to continue on insulin as a diabetic 2 once you're on it.
I never even was on insulin before I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and the medication I was taking at the time put me in to diabetic ketosis.
My numbers were high ,but nobody would talk about how to get me off the insulin unless I took the glp only I can't take glps...
I was terrified to go off the NovoLog, because of all the propaganda, but it made no rational sense to take it if my blood sugars were in normal range and I had read that it can even make your insulin resistance worse to keep taking insulin if the oral medication is working and you're not eating a high carb diet.
Of course, I am not at all recommending that anybody just stops their novolog if you have a doctor who is actually trying to work with you .
But, after Friday when I came home shaking and wanting to throw up and a headache I decided I'm not taking it if my blood sugar is in range before meals, if it had indeed gone too high or my blood sugar was erratic -I would have went right back to taking it.
The last advice I got from my diabetic nurse when I asked what I should do was "use your own judgment" so I guess I did.
