ChatGPT says:
A chronic runny nose can indeed be a lingering symptom for some people who have had COVID-19, particularly long COVID or post-viral syndromes. While the Omicron variant is generally associated with milder upper respiratory symptoms, prolonged effects, such as persistent nasal congestion, runny nose (rhinorrhea), or post-nasal drip, have been reported.
Common Explanations for Persistent Runny Nose Post-COVID:
Post-viral Rhinitis: After a viral infection like COVID-19, inflammation in the nasal lining may persist, causing a runny nose.
Long COVID: Some individuals experience prolonged respiratory or sinus symptoms, even months or years after recovery.
Hyperreactive Nasal Mucosa: COVID-19 may make your nasal tissues more sensitive to irritants like cold air, pollen, or perfumes.
Immune System Dysregulation: Lingering immune activity can sometimes cause chronic low-grade inflammation in the airways.
Sinus Involvement: Chronic sinus inflammation (post-viral sinusitis) could result in long-term nasal discharge.
What Others Have Reported:
People in online communities (like Reddit, Facebook long COVID groups, or specialized forums) have shared experiences of persistent runny noses after recovering from Omicron. Many report that antihistamines, saline nasal rinses, or steroid nasal sprays provide some relief, but the condition may linger.
What to Do:
Connect with Others: Explore forums like Reddit's r/covidlonghaulers or Facebook long COVID support groups. You’ll likely find others experiencing the same issue.
Symptom Management: Over-the-counter antihistamines (e.g., loratadine, cetirizine) or nasal sprays may help. Consult your doctor for safety.
Specialist Visit: Consider seeing an ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist) if symptoms persist.
You're definitely not alone—many people are still discovering lingering effects of COVID, even years later. If you'd like, I can recommend some online support communities where people share similar experiences!

Long Covid is pretty common now. They have discovered it in 36% of college students. They are young and otherwise healthy so it isn’t immediately detectable!

@Wiseacre I am bringing them up because their youth masks actual symptoms/consequences of Long Covid.
Oh I had that. I had a weird asthma like sensation but if only lasted for about 2 months. It was annoying.
I don't have a runny nose anymore though but I did have one before.
