Why doesn't the covid vaccine prevent the catching and dying of covid? Isn't that the whole point of a vaccine?

Well normally a vaccine does, byt the covid shot is not a traditional vaccine, much like a flu shot it only supplies what the body uses as defence and thst the body can replicate thus no true immunity occures
