Blaming our equals is easier than looking at the higher ups

First of all, I want to say I am fully vaccinated.

I struggled to take my decision, but finally decided to take the vaccine for two reasons. One is the thought that it would be my small contribution to the end of this nightmare. Another one is that the people I love are taking it too. If taking it proves to be a wrong decision, it is not worth being the only one who is right.

Today I have read a survey where 80% of my fellow Spaniards agreed that unvaccinated people should pay for their stay in ICU if they have to be hospitalised with covid-19. These past days I have read surveys with similar results supporting the decision of French president of banning unvaccinated people from restaurants, bars, or transport.

I am not surprised at all. We have shown our true colours in this pandemic. I am disgusted. Disgusted with all those people who say unvaccinated people are selfish. All of us have taken or rejected the vaccine for our own selfish reasons: enjoying traveling or going out again, or feeling protected in one case; thinking those experimental vaccines put our health at risk in the other. All of us have taken a decision. We have to accept the consequences of our decision, but never be deprived of rights on the basis of a personal choice.

What disgusts me more is people blaming for restrictions, curfews and lockdownd those who are unvaccinated, instead of doing it with authoritarian governments who are playing with the economy and mental health of many families with ridiculously low ICU occupation numbers, treating us like servants, not like citizens. It is much easier to blame our equals instead of looking for the true culprits. Human condition is so despicable.

What is jolting how many people are willing to give up freedoms and liberties without any resistance or even support their removal. All because of a virus that kills less people than previous diseases.

That's a very interesting, thoughtful point of view 👍

@Fluffybull One of the most disgusting aspects of this pandemic is the fake moral superiority of certain people who think they are more responsible, smart, and better people than the rest. SW has its fair lot of them too.
