Would you get the vaccine for Corona Virus?

I would not... not trying to be ignorant but who knows what the heck they put in there ..

So you're a biochemist? Is that why "what the heck they put in there" bothers you so much?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@room101 So you're a strawman? How about just stating your opinion on the question asked instead of snarkily attacking the original poster?
@SumKindaMunster It's not an attack, though... how many of us actually know what the contents of any vaccine currently on the market actually are???

To use "Who knows what they have put in it" is a crummy attempt to justify not getting a vaccine that could make Covid19 a thing of the past.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@HootyTheNightOwl Disagree. It's a strawman response because the question implies that the original poster is not legitimate enough to question what is in the vaccine because she is not a biochemist.
@SumKindaMunster For the most part, many members of the public are more concerned about trying to get an end to this pandemic - and, if the vaccine is the only means to an end, then, roll up your sleeve and accept the sharp scratch. You can deal with what is in it at your leisure later.

I'm in the group who are advised to not take the vaccine at this time... yet, I still want my vaccine, regardless of the fact that I could have a life threatening reaction to the vaccine.

Instead, I have to rely on the poster and others around me to get their vaccine to keep me safe from a virus that will kill me to give me the best chance of surviving Covid19 - then, I'm reading posts slating it left and right.

It's just not fair on me and people like me who want the vaccine but can't have a vaccine right now.

Most questioners of what is in the vaccine tend to be of the belief that it contains a chip that will be inserted into their body at the same time - which is complete nonsense.

I'm sorry to hear that.

No, you don't. We understand how the virus spreads and there are effective ways of preventing the spread without having to vaccinate everybody. You may need to be more careful, but mass vaccinations aren't the only option.
It's just not fair on me and people like me who want the vaccine but can't have a vaccine right now.
Yeah yeah. So unfair. You know what else would be unfair? Being forced to get vaccinated so people like you don't get it, but getting a debilitating side effect from the vaccine. That's not fair either.

I know, I am well aware. Most of the people who believe that, type such comments on a smart phone, which has multiple microchips and tracks everything they say and do.

However, I am not saying that. I've made multiple arguments on this thread expressing my skepticism about this vaccine for various reasons, mostly due to my lack of trust in both the Pharma industry and our government. Feel free to read them if you care to, and respond if you think you have something worthy to say.
@room101 Put in where ?

@MarmeeMarch Basic, cohesive, reading comprehension letting you down again huh, marmsieboi🤦‍♂️

@SumKindaMunster Seems that you don't understand the concept of a strawman argument.

My comment was not used with the intent to derail the topic of conversation (which is what a strawman is). It was indeed a sarcastic response to an utterly stupid perspective on the taking of vaccines.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@room101 Uh huh. So, you have a PhD in philosophical arguments?

That's a sarcastic response to an utterly stupid reply.
room101 · 51-55, M
@SumKindaMunster Nope, don't need to be a professor. Simply need to understand basic definitions.

Seeing as you're so keen to go down this path, how many people in the world today actually know what's in a vaccine? In any medication for that matter. Sure, we have the ingredients listed on the packaging or in a nice little leaflet in the box. But how many of us actually KNOW what that list means?

Once you've researched and answered that question, perhaps I could trouble you to go onto the next.

Of those people who actually KNOW what's in the vaccines and medicines that they take, how many of them have qualifications (doesn't have to be PhD's) in medicine, biology, chemistry, bio-chemistry or any other associated field?

Bottom line, "I ain't takin' coz I don't know what's in it" has to be one of the dumbest arguments that anti-vaxxers make.

Same. I mean, if you want to childishly bicker about the definition of a strawman argument, go ahead but we both know your question was irrelevant, and implied that asking questions about what is in the vaccine is worthy of mockery because the original poster is not a biochemist, whatever that is supposed to mean....
Bottom line, "I ain't takin' coz I don't know what's in it" has to be one of the dumbest arguments that anti-vaxxers make
Is it, why?

I think that is a very worthy argument. I understand randomly speculating about what is in the vaccine isn't helpful, but I absolutely think having a healthy dose of skepticism about these vaccines is critical. You don't need to have an advanced degree in virology to understand that this vaccine was rushed, the companies promoting them have immunity for any side effects, and the government is desperate to do something/anything to slow the rate of infections.

You just trust the Pharmaceutical industry? Pushing out a new type of vaccine that has never been tried on a mass scale before? The government? Telling us its all fine? You believe that? If mRNA vaccines are so effective and safe, why are we just using them now? If after taking the vaccine, you still need to social distance and use the mask, what is the point?

I'd love to hear you answer these questions relevantly.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@room101 So shocker, once the strawman has to start defending his position and not lazily attacking others, he stops responding and moves on.

No surprises here you feckless coward.

@SumKindaMunster Oh did I upset you because I didn't respond immediately? Sorry 'bout that but I have a life.

Being skeptical and wanting to see thorough testing is all well and good but even that is largely a nonsense in reality. Everybody from our doctor and our pharmacist, right through to organisations like the FDA and ultimately our governments, tell us that a certain drug/vaccine whatever, has been tested. We accept that assurance on trust. Or we don't.

If we don't, then viruses and diseases which have basically been eradicated for decades, re-emerge. Why? Because you were healthily skeptical?

You asked:

"If mRNA vaccines are so effective and safe, why are we just using them now? If after taking the vaccine, you still need to social distance and use the mask, what is the point?"

Is this your idea of relevant questioning?

We are only just using them now because a) they had to be developed and b) they had to be tested.

We still wear masks and social distance because a) the vaccines are only just now being rolled out and b) there are idiots like you out there who refuse to take the vaccine because, you know, they are being healthily skeptical.

I understand, that nasty Dr Frankenstein poked you with too many needles. But just think, if he hadn't, you wouldn't be here now regaling us with your............erm..............wisdom?

@MarmeeMarch Oh dear, another one who gets upset because I didn't respond immediately.

Sorry I can't give you the attention that you so desperately need. Try getting yourself a dog or something. I recommend a small one. A yappy little ankle biter would suite you tremendously.

@room101 Nobody's upset because you didnt' get back to us. Rather, your provocative and childish comments invite immediate rebuttal, but apparently you need 24 hours to come up with an irrelevant and snarky response.

It doesn't hide the fact that you have little to say that isn't snark or warmed over talking points regurgitated from your favorite social media.
