Fox News is a Joke

Apparently Fox News in America went off on this bizarre rant:

https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/fox-news-host-goes-bizarre-rant-nz-mocks-accent-and-details-terrifying-covid-camps

Does this strange woman understand that these ‘camps’ are hotel rooms? (until recently all costs were paid for by the New Zealand taxpayer). The hotels are used to quarantine and test new arrivals into the country.

If you refuse to be tested, you’ll have to stay in your hotel room longer... or go back to your own country (it’s your choice)

America has become a world-wide laughing stock... and this sort of nonsense is not helping 😂

It's Laura Ingraham Janine.
She is pretty fucked up...

At least SNL did a good piece on her opinion pieces.

@Kwek00 Hilarious !’ve never heard of this muppet... but if she’s what Americans are watching, it should be quite easy to fulfil my plan to become Queen of America.

@newjaninev2 Janine, you have a bunch of opinion makers on FOX, that are just out there. Laura Ingraham is class A vomit material.

You can find her stuff on youtube, just watch some of her opinion pieces and try to keep your food inside. You also have fruitbaskets like: Judge Jeanine Pirro, Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity. And they also have a radio stations with people like "Mark Levin".

It's all demonisation, cherry picking, nut picking, demagoguery, ... like every trick in the book to make their audience angry and scared of the great evil that is on the other side.

@newjaninev2 @Kwek00 30 years of right-wing hate radio and TV is a big reason why we have Trump right now in the US, and a large segment of the population that doesn't believe in science, math, or facts. Ingraham is just one of many examples.

@windinhishair Of course... because in the 80s all those ultra conservatives sold the idea that people are smart enough to go about their information in their own way. And when they cut regulations that pushed channels to at least show the other side of a story or invite someone of the opposition to the show, the US put the door wide open for demagogues that preyed on fears and angers and searched popular support trough emotional rhetoric.

Apperently this "we are smart enough" thing wasn't right. If annyone read Platos' republic, they might have figured out that the ancient Greeks already knew that the largest body of people don't have the education to evaluate information. But with liberalism came this new found idea about how great the individual was, and illiberal elements got all the forums they needed to rub that faerietale into the liberal faces and even turn it into a nightmare in the 30s. There is nothing new when it comes to this, because when it comes to education, we just don't invest in teaching children how to evaluate information because it doesn't really help in a work enviorement. But a democracy, can't really excist without at least a good bunch of people that are trained in critical thinking and understanding why certain sources aren't worth your time.
