and it was barely noticed

@MasterLee As I said, a position that only those who haven't lost anyone yet tend to hold.
The pandemic is global, the growth in cases and deaths you have over there are consistent to the proportions observed in the rest of the world, especially considering the lack of a proper lockdown/containment, massive protests (from as early as march, against the state lockdowns themselves). All the countries that minimised the severity of the situation (and especially those that still persevere on doing so) are the worst hit, independently from political factors.

@Elessar bought what? We have had 5 deaths here in 9 months. Far cry from thousands per day. A local testing center here send 2 sterile swabs in as a control and both came back positive. More likely to be struck by lightning. If you report every death during kung flu as because of it your numbers shoot up. They are completely false but newsworthy. The liberal virus is just another ploy.

@MasterLee I fear you've bought propaganda from the opposite bandwagon, but I guess at the end of everything we'll know who is right.
False positives are a thing with pretty much every assay, that's not even news, there are techniques to limit the phenomenon which I'm pretty sure the U.S. is advanced enough to implement.
I've seen the virus at work in my area, where there are no liberals nor elections, so I'll remain on my opinion that the only ploy is the alt-right (failed) attempt to downplay it, after initially screaming against China that it was even worse than they numbers said no less.
