I am so upset, but u can’t cheer me up😟

A friend of mine I’ve known for 30 yrs is expected to die…he has suffered leukaemia and received chemo for 17 yrs. He is feeling worse and worse, and his docs know it, but can’t help. Sam’s been upbeat, and positive, always having kind words for others. I said “I’ll see u tomorrow”, he replied he’ll do his best to make it, then added “if I can’t make it, all the best to u, and have a wonderful new year.” 😥

There arent any words
But it reminds me of a work friend, we got on really well outside of work, she had cancer and was having chemo etc so didnt see as she had to isolate. Came closer to her birthday and asked if i could see her. She said she didn't know if shed still be here. It threw me so the next day went to see her and found out she had been given 48 hours to live.
It doesnt make it easier. But time will x
