I Am a Cancer Survivor

I was 25. Newly married (the first time around) and had just enlisted in the Air Force. When I went in for my yearly physical something didn't look quite right so I was sent to an off base specialist. After a few weeks of testing I was pulled into the base medics office and told I had hyper vascular cancer and with the size and growth rate of the tumor I most likely had less then a month to live.

I was rushed into surgery the next morning at 6AM and had a tumor the size of a grape fruit cut out of my left leg. I was rushed through recovery to keep my enlistment active, but a few weeks after returning to active duty my hip blew out. I spent the next 6 months in a wheel chair another 3 months learning how to walk again. It was the end of my Air Force career, and also my life. Scary stuff, but I've been cancer free now since 1995. Guess I did have more then a month to live after all.
