Does this happen to anyone else with chronic pain?

It's honestly not the pain itself that bothers me the most. I mean if I just focus on something immersive, I can ignore it pretty well. But when my mind isn't occupied, and the pain comes on, my brain just runs wild with imagining all the possibilities of what is happening to my body, and I cause myself so much distress that it makes the pain twice as bad. I just try to play a video game or go to sleep when that happens.

In other words I guess I gross myself out? But "gross" doesn't really sum up how vivid and awful my thoughts are. I just don't know how to describe it.

Is that just me being weird or is that common?

Chronic pain sucks.I deal with dental pain.Sometimes ideal with Arthritis from old injuries.
And a few other things
@KingofBones1 I deal with dental pain, as well - a mutilation that happened 7 years ago. And, a few other things.

@PhoenixPhail Mine is from something similar.I had a large number of teeth knocked out from a crowbar. When three people try to rob me it busted my mouth up and split my Orbital socket under my eye so usually I wear a grill but somebody took it and threw it away on purpose while I was in prison. My ex roommate
@KingofBones1 OMG, that's horrible. I'm so sorry that happened, and left you in this condition.

@PhoenixPhail It's OK, thank you, my friend.I'm going to get another grill.I just gotta get up the money to do it.But when I do I will be very happy. One less issue to deal with. And I'm sorry you deal with your pain as well.Matter fact, if you were around I would help you with some natural medicine. And the first one that's on the house
@KingofBones1 Much appreciated. But, unless you're Dr. Frankenstein, and can reanimate dead tissue, there's no medication that's going to do any good. I've got this for life.

@PhoenixPhail I understand that brother I can't fix your condition but I might be able to help you with the pain management
@KingofBones1 I have some meds for that. But, thanks.

@PhoenixPhail Chemical free but you are more than welcome and I wish you the best
@KingofBones1 Thank you for the offer. It's more than pain. It's a lot of thickness and tugging sensations in my face from scar tissue that's built up from the injury. The nerve damage has caused that side of my face to try and slide off of my skull. I've had some cosmetic work done on it, but there's only so much they can do. I will need more work done on it. The dentist responsible for this, lost his license over it. So, at least he's not mutilating anyone else.

@KingofBones1 Thanks so much for being there for me. 🤝 I'm sure my lengthy letter to the dental board had something to do with his getting investigated.
