Does this happen to anyone else with chronic pain?

It's honestly not the pain itself that bothers me the most. I mean if I just focus on something immersive, I can ignore it pretty well. But when my mind isn't occupied, and the pain comes on, my brain just runs wild with imagining all the possibilities of what is happening to my body, and I cause myself so much distress that it makes the pain twice as bad. I just try to play a video game or go to sleep when that happens.

In other words I guess I gross myself out? But "gross" doesn't really sum up how vivid and awful my thoughts are. I just don't know how to describe it.

Is that just me being weird or is that common?

I have some nerve issues in my lower leg. Tis a parting gift from the cancer I had.
If I'm busy and taking meds, it doesn't exist. But once I stop moving and want to relax or sleep it burns like no other. It's nothing short of cruel.
@SooperSarah I'm sorry that's what it left you. 😕
@PhoenixPhail in a way it's a blessing in disguise. If it weren't for that burn I wouldn't have gone to the doctor to get things checked out.
