Has anyone dealt with sciatica?

I went to an orthopedic doctor yesterday because I have been having pain in my left hip for a few weeks now. I work out every day and thought I had pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve in my butt. But after talking to friends who were had hip replacement, I got paranoid since I'm an old lady now, and went to the doctor. He did X-rays and said I had sciatica. He looked very shocked when he said my joints looked amazing. 😂 Because I'm an old lady I guess. He mentioned steroids, but I can't take them at all, so he suggested physical therapy. Has anyone else had sciatica? If so, can you recommend some good exercises or stretches or maybe some good YouTube videos that were helpful? Or supplements or anything? I really don't have the money to spend for physical therapy, especially if there's something I can do at home.

There are some things that will help such as the way you sleep. I have a lift chair now but when sleeping in a bed I’d sleep on my side and rotate which side several times in the night to take the pressure off. There are doctors online who show exercises that will help as well. And one thing that really helped me was getting off of gluten. I had sciatica in 2012 and it got worse like a flame shooting down my leg every 5 minutes or so depending on how I was standing at work. I had to quit that job because of it. I stopped eating wheat and the symptoms lessened to where it was manageable. And sleeping on my side helped a great deal too. I take a good type of Boswellia (Indian Frankincense) 800 mg and it’s 65% Boswellic acid. I don’t lift cases of water any more either, that’s what caused two of the incidents.

@cherokeepatti thanks so much! I have actually just recently started taking Boswellia and it has helped quite a bit. I do sleep on my side too, but I wear a glucose sensor on my arm so I can't rotate it.

Used to suffer terribly with it,, one trick I was shown was putting pressure on the nerve running through your bottom cheek,, it’s right in middle of cheek you can sometimes feel it, I used to lean back on a table with my fingers pushing on cheek or even sit with one cheek on a pool ball, apparently it stretches nerve

@Barny52 thanks- I will try that!

I haven't dealt with sciatica, but here are some exercises recommended by a physical therapist from a rehab facility in Brooklyn:

Sciatica is caused by two bones of spinal cord coming too close together, and pressing upon the sciatic nerve, which supplies nerves to hip, thigh & egs.
It can be cured by yoga exercises quite easily.
Do these, avoid workout for time being the yoga exercises will stretch your spine subtly and relief the pressure on the sciatic nerve. That solves the problem.
