I wore them when I had a cold and influenza and had to go to the supermarket .
I figured it'd help stop most of the particles, at least the large ones from escaping when I coughed or sneezed.

Masks do serve a purpose . Agreed they aren't foolproof, but they do help to a degree.
Sneeze particles can travel something like 7 meters or something, a cough maybe half that.

So if you're immune compromised , I can see why people would choose to wear one.

So if something can reduce your chances of getting sick by even 10 or 20% ....that's still better than nothing 🤷

@OogieBoogie did you wipe your face at all or move your mask around after, say with adjusting it? you use your hands to do that and you would touch things in supermarket afterwards, so there isnt a big difference.
I get your thinking with it though and its cool you tried to cover yourself up when sick. If only more did that.
I am referring to those who wear them in fear of getting sick from covid still though

@OogieBoogie I don't think anyone can disagree with your sentiments however the facts are not on your side. A mask only catches the big bits which without a mask fall harmlessly to the ground. However repeated breathing over those big bits makes them small bits and they hang in the air thus making them much more dangerous. I found it interesting how where I live the mask mandates were set by the cities. In each city when mask mandates were implemented a massive infection rate of covid would happen 2 weeks after the masks were commonly worn. The incubation time for the virus is about 2 weeks so what changed? Based on statistics one could draw the conclusion that the masks were increasing the infection rates not decreasing them as planned.
@Torsten Nah, I'm versed in mask protocol - you don't touch it once it's on, and only adjust it , if you have to, by the elastic on the sides .
The only time I touch is when I put it on and shape it to my face.

Personally , I don't know why immune compromised people don't wear gloves - hands are the most prone to picking up germy shit.
Everything in public has been touched by 10's if not 100's of people ...touch transfers everything ....everywhere .
I was always amazed that ATM's weren't shut down during covid - they must have been RIFE with yuck.

And although I think masks serve a purpose, I do think they were overkill. Esp outside.

Plus ...it IS the nature of a virus to work it's way through a populace to evolve to become more virulent but less destructive - it's MO is to survive, not kill it's host.

The most ironic part of covid in America was - their diet is so atrocious, that average people's immune systems are crap.
Even athletes eating all their special supplements are at risk .
The amount of people dying from enflamed immune diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and all the others, every year are in the millions - just in America alone.

The greatest pandemic right now , is diet - so many are eating processed crap.
It's the slowest poison known to mankind .

And no mask can fix that .
@hippyjoe1955 eh?
So they fall harmless to the ground ....but then you breath them in ?
That doesn't make sense.

The most likely issue with the mask wearing prolly would have been over wearing of masks. They have a time limit to be worn - like three hours or something .
There are strict protocols to wearing them - dont touch them once they are on, fit them properly and they need to be either thrown out after every wear ....even if it's just for a few minutes , or washed.

Here, in Aus , they showed nationwide they reduced infection rates .
So I dunno what happened where you are, but that's not good.
We were given packets of disposable masks freely....and free testing kits.

On all honesty though, the influenza that hit last year was worse than covid .
Nearly everyone I knew who got covid were only sick for like three days or so ....the influenza was knocking people out for like two weeks.🤷

@OogieBoogie Look at an atomizer and get back to me.

@OogieBoogie you might be one of the very few who would be that cautious with masks. I remember always seeing people adjust them and have them below their noses and all sorts of things. granted one of the very rare times i did wear them, i was adjusting it like crazy. masks and big beards do not mix at all and the mask would constantly need adjusting.

Yeah why were gloves not mandated? that would have actually made more sense i think

oh yeah diet is a big one as well. If you were in poor health, you were at more risk. Which also annoyed me that the people who dont normally look after their health, were a lot of the ones trying to lecture others about taking care of your health haha. It was so dumb.

I agree with you bout diet 100%. People worrying bout covid when they are eating themselves to death and getting obese. Obesity percentages keep rising and we are now told its beautiful and healthy and if you argue that, you're fatphobic.
Actually i would say a bigger issue is people have become so incredibly fragile that you have to coddle to everyone. The truth can never be told if it hurts anyones feelings and yeah its insane
