Who do you know with COVID?

It's been a little while since I've heard anyone say it. In months past people would state as an argument that they don't personally know anyone with COVID, saying (or at least strongly suggesting) this proves the whole thing is a hoax. "I don't know anyone who has had it, so it has to be fake" (paraphrase).

I have acute social anxiety and virtually no social skills, and yet I know people who have COVID. People, plural, not just one anymore. My nephew was the first, and he's in ICU for it. Come to find out not only does my ex-brother-in-law also have it, but also both of their wives. That is a considerable percentage of the people I know.

My nephew works (or at least worked, don't know if he'll ever be able to go back to work) in the service industry, interacting with the public all the time but still wouldn't get the shot. None of the four got the shot. They didn't think the virus was real. I never really doubted it. We're all up to our eyeballs in proof now.
Partner of mine from the old job had it recently. No vax. And aside from some mild flu-like symptoms, fine. Fortunately his diet doesn’t consist of garbage which he believes is why his immune system dealt with the virus quickly.

@cherokeepatti Not true. My husband is hard core Keto and fasts every week and he still got covid.

@Keepitsimple I was talking about insulin resistance

@cherokeepatti oh sorry. I just read that. He reversed his diabetes because of the Keto diet though 😉
My brother's family. So my nephew got from his antivaxx army buddies. Him and my brother's family also being antivaxx and refusing the shot cause they hate Biden. So they ended up with it and nearly died.
And I haven't heard it yet but I just know they are going to blame Biden and say he tried to kill them or that the Chinese did.
Also my nephew is being discharge from the military for refusing to acknowledge the president as his superior.

Mom had it at the beginning of the year. It wasn't fun at all.
My aunt caught it recently, lost sense of smell a couple of days ago but she's okay otherwise.
Apart from that we had one distant family member who ended up in the hospital and had a very long recovery.
And it became pretty normal to hear that this and this family is in isolation because someone of them or all of them have COVID. Most have mild symptoms.

Guy I used to play in bands with decades ago, pretty right-wing, anti-vax, pro-trump, etc. -- just found out last week I hadn't seen him online because he'd been in hospital and almost died from COVID. He as on the ventilator/intubation, the whole thing, and just barely survived.

My mom, a couple of my sisters and their families had it, including my toddler nephew (he was just under 2 at the time). The only one I know who ended up in ER due to complications from it was one of my brother-in-laws but that was his own fault. He felt so awful and nauseated, that he didn’t hydrate.

My best friend caught it last year. She suffered quite a bit between the infection and the job she used to work at because of it. Was worried about her a fair bit, but she seems to have made it out okay for now.
A husband & wife who live nearby got breakthrough cases this past August or so. They said it was like a particularly bad flu. They didn't need hospitalization or anything.

Not many people. My husband's daughter-in-law who is a nurse. She was fully jabbed but got Covid twice. A client's husband who was fully jabbed. An acquaintance's mother who works in a care home.

in the beginning I didn't know anyone with COVID... but in the last few months I have known 10 or more people in my small circle who have recently had it

Sorry to hear about that. Yeah, not someone I really know but a friend of a friend.
