The alternative:
1. Refuse to wear mask
2. Keep hands dirty
3. Breathe on everyone
4. Avoid vaccination
5. Get sick, maybe die

@doong With how contagious this thing is, even 99%+ survival rates are enough to generate tons of corpses and clog our hospital systems with the ill.
We had to resort to burying Americans in mass graves last year, this thing is serious.
Mississippi has 6 open ICU beds across 128 hospitals right now.

@SnowBlack To be more precise: Unvaccinated death = (a) Unvaccinated because there were no vaccine for sometime + (b) Unvaccinated because refusing vaccine after it's there.
How many are (a) and how many are (b). You cannot claim that all unvaccinated death are those who Refuse vaccine.

@doong Right now, the ones dying and in the ICU are almost all unvaccinated - because they chose to be.
doong · 56-60, M
@QuixoticSoul Most likely, refusing vaccine because afraid of side effect, and they knew that none of those vaccines are fully tested. Can't really blame them either for refusing vaccine.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@doong Sure you can - yes they are fully tested, and covid side effects are both more likely and worse. It’s an example of flawed risk analysis and general stupidity.
doong · 56-60, M
@QuixoticSoul No, they're not. No vaccine has complete 3rd phase. 3rd phase will require 3 to 5 years usually.

@doong Pfizer concluded phase 3 studies in November.
Without being fully tested, none of these vaccines could apply for full non-emergency authorization in the first place, and all of the ones we use in the US already have.

@QuixoticSoul If 3rd phase is not completed, then it is not fully tested.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@doong They’re completed.

@QuixoticSoul And refuse to acknowledge/ responsible for side effect. Third phase of vaccine/medicine making is meant to evaluate those as well.
That's why it will take longer time

@SnowBlack@QuixoticSoul I'm just rounding to simply...
But sounds like
About 1.5% of unvaccinated die when getting Covid-19 (which doesn't count many more hospitalizations).
About 1.5% of vaccinated go to the hospital when getting Covid-19. (At least according to the out break in Providence)
So the difference is basically death or hospital... for 1.5%.

@doong The third phase usually takes so long because recruiting relevant people into studies takes a long time and is a slow process. In this situation they had ten times the usual number of participants ready to go. All of the vaccines used in the US passed phase 3 trials.
@Viper In my city (which has very high vaccination rates) we’ve seen 1800 covid hospitalizations since December, with only six of those being vaccinated. This is last week’s numbers, iirc.
