Tired of being good…
In this case I refer to nutrition. Last summer I decided to make a conscious attempt to eat healthier. I wanted to lose a few pounds but it was really more about feeling healthy. More fish and veggies, less red meat, cutting out snacks and sweets. Less caffeine and alcohol. It had the desired effect and I’ve kept it up pretty well for a year now.
But lately I feel like I have to decline a treat at every damn meal. Homemade muffins, Klondike bars, chocolate chip cookies, a trip to the ice cream stand, a restaurant menu full of steaks. I definitely feel better with my new diet, and without the ten pounds I lost or the thirty extra points of cholesterol. But sometimes it feels antisocial to keep turning things down when others are enjoying them. I’m sticking with my approach, but it’s been a little harder than usual lately.
