Summer Is For Farmers Markets

For those of us who live in cold and damp environments, the summer local harvest is finally here.

Kind of.

Rainier cherries need a couple of more weeks, white peaches are still kind of tart, and no heirloom tomatoes.

But I'm holding out hope I can score some heirloom tomatoes for $12 a lb. And $9 per lb cherries. But I have to be standing in line, trying to beat the retirement home ladies, before the noon opening bell.

Screw Costco.

Heirloom cherries… will they be ready for Thursday? 😉

I love summer markets. We usually go every weekend of summer. I like supporting local business and farmers.

And nothing else will do for what you want to prepare?

And I meant to type tomatoes… heirloom tomatoes for your salad.

Heirloom cherry tomatoes also works.

I'm afraid there is no substitute.

Once you’re used to certain taste, I guess you won’t accept a substitute.

There’s a town 1hr from here where they celebrate a day for butter tarts.
plenty of farms here just starting to see tomatoes. fresh corn in just a few weeks
