I went down a rabbit hole

It started when I was watching the last season of "Love is Blind: US".

This couple said they were halal. I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up.

Halal means "prepared following Islamic dietary laws and regulations that determine what is permissible, lawful and clean".

The word "clean" intrigued me so I looked more into it.

Pigs/Pork came up. I remembered from the bible that pork was one of the avoided meats.

I looked it up and yep, Jewish people don't eat pork.

Jesus was Jewish, and didn't eat pork.

So I researched why they didn't eat pork. And that is because "Kosher animals are ruminants, in other words they chew cud, and they have split hooves, such as sheep or cows. Pigs are not ruminants, so they are not kosher. Animals that live in water can only be eaten if they have fins and scales".

Leviticus says, "the pig is impure to you; from their flesh, you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.”

Granted, this was all a long long time ago and translations today are mediocre at best. The bible was not written in English!

However.... it kind of made me wonder... because I've seen videos of people talking about McDonald's and their meat and how it is crazy that so many people eat there, and there are at least 40,000 locations in the US alone. Some people say that pork is the closest taste to human meat... and how do they supply so much meat to so many stores? Some theorize that the meat is human. All the missing people in the world, etc.

Then I realized how much pork was used there. And everywhere.

Pork has so many names.

Bacon, ham, sausage, pancetta, spareribs, baby back ribs, pork chops, pork belly, guanciale.

Think, when is the last time you HAVEN'T had pork?

It is in every breakfast sandwich, every lunch and dinner.

It is the primary meat.

I actively try and avoid it and yet it is everywhere. I had Olive Garden's "Zuppa Toscana" today and guess what the meat was? Sausage.

Pigs are omnivores. They eat both plants and animals and live in mud.

Reminds me of someone saying that you should reconsider eating shrimp because "Shrimp are bottom dwellers who feed on parasites and skin that they pick off dead animals"

Crazy.

If steak and chicken weren't so delicious I'd be a vegetarian.

There is also a super conspiracy about pork having parasites, and that if you dunk a pork chop in alcohol you'll see worms come out. Personally I haven't found any evidence for this.
