Idk why but I got sick from eating peanut butter with whole wheat bread

I'm experiencing flu like symptoms, which has never happened before. The only logical explanation is I probably contaminated the jar of peanut butter with my saliva, since I'm the only one eating from it so I got lazy and didn't clean the knife when dipping it in. Still strange for me to feel weak, cold, and cough from that though smh. I don't have allergies to wheat nor peanuts, so it can't be that either.
