Smaller portions and food wasn’t doped up with monosodium glutamate as much as it is today, that stuff is not a flavor enhancer as much as it is an appetite stimulant. We also didn’t have a bunch of buffet restaurants like today, people didn’t drink as much soft drinks either, I think that fad started increasing in the mid-70’s, most people didn’t eat out at restaurants very often….and people usually spent more time outdoors doing stuff. People did eat desserts after a meal usually once a day but sometimes took a walk or did things rather than plop down in front of the tv after dinner. We didn’t have many tv channels back then so there was less that we wanted to watch and would watch some programs later on. We also had more grass-fed beef, it was cheaper than corn fed and it actually helps create muscle because it is loaded with CLA, a fatty acid that builds and repairs muscles.
