If I had a wife; I once did, but I would intercede letting the flirter to know she is taken, and to cease the conduct! Once informed that the object of your flirtation is spoken for; then the Flirter ought to respectfully cease! That is polite and gentlemanly! Now if it did not stop then the ungentlemanly process will start! It is about respecting boundaries!
