Is it safe to say that photo filters help deceive people's looks?

My best buddy has been dating this chick online for over 2 months. They finally decided to meet up, oh boy! The person on the picture looked nothing like her, her natural skin colour is a beautiful brown and she manage to whiten it with filters. She's actually twice the size of the person in the photo. She gave herself a photoshop surgery. He was so sad because he fell for her quirky personality but the whole appearance made him felt betrayed.

Been there. Saw a girl on eHarmony. Looked ok and rather pretty. When I finally met her, she looked like Bill O'Reilly. Can't understand why people don't post normal pics. The second you meet in person, game over.

Exactly- it doesn't make sense. Filters can be for fun, but to deceive is pointless

@LostInTheDesert: Yep, also happened with a girl at LEAST 2x the size in her picture. I felt bad for her, and enjoyed a nice dinner date.
